Puff Cotton Phone Pouch

Owner's hand-tested variant in 4-ply milky cotton — same compact phone pouch silhouette as the worsted version, with ALIGNED puff columns (simpler 2-row cycle, no honeycomb stagger) and 2 mini flowers as decoration. About 12 × 13 cm finished. Real-world-validated: someone made this one + photographed it before publication.

Assembly

  1. Fold the panel in half and seam the side edge (×2)
  2. Sew one end of the strap to each top corner of the body panel — pass the needle through both faces (front + back) at the corner so the strap end catches the joined side seam for pull-strength. The strap hangs as a continuous loop across the opening.

You'll also need

  • Matching sewing thread or split yarn strand small amount
  • Tapestry needle (size 16-18) for sewing the button and decorations 1

Decorations

  • Make 1 × Tiny 5-Petal Flower (front decoration)See the motif pattern →
Sew one Tiny 5-Petal Flower onto the upper-left of the FRONT face, about a third of the way down from the top rim. Pin with a stitch marker before sewing so it doesn't shift; whip-stitch through the front face only.

Closure

  • Two crocheted flowers replace the wooden button: 1 × Mini Flower (/patterns/simple-flower-dc3, ~3 cm, orange or any high-contrast colour) for the front button, and 1 × Tiny 5-Petal Flower (/patterns/mini-flower-5petal, ~2-3 cm, yellow or matching the front decoration) for the back catch. Plus a short length of yarn for the chain loop.
Sew the orange Mini Flower to the FRONT face about 2 cm below the top rim, centered horizontally — this is the closure button. Sew the second yellow Tiny 5-Petal Flower to the BACK face at the same height, top-centered — this is the loop's catch. Working from the inside of the back face just below the yellow flower, chain 12 (or enough to comfortably loop over the orange front button), slip-stitch back to the base to form a closed loop, then slip-stitch once around the loop for stability. Test the loop pulls over the orange button and catches behind the yellow back flower before fastening off.

Steps

  1. Crochet the three closure + decoration flowers (leave a 30 cm tail on each for sewing): 1 × Mini Flower in orange for the front button (/patterns/simple-flower-dc3, ~10 min), 2 × Tiny 5-Petal Flower in yellow — one for the front decoration and one for the back catch (/patterns/mini-flower-5petal, ~5 min each).
  2. Pin all three flowers in the placement shown in the mockup before sewing. Whip-stitch each flower to one face only — don't pierce through to the other side, or you'll sew the bag closed.
  3. Work the chain-12 button loop on the back face as described in the closure instructions. Weave in all tails on the inside of the bag, then turn right side out.
