Halloween Crochet Patterns

6 free Halloween crochet patterns — a pumpkin, a ghost, a bat, a witch hat, a black cat, and a spider. Each is a 21×21 two-color mosaic tile with a complete chart and all 42 rows written out, worked flat in chains, single crochet, and double crochet with one yarn per row.

Patterns are produced by deterministic algorithms and machine-validated for stitch-count accuracy — never written by a language model. Every tile also passes the mosaic feasibility check before it reaches this page — the same anchor-by-anchor math a human tech editor checks by hand.

The pumpkin tile — complete pattern

Materials

  • Worsted-weight yarn in Black (MC) — about 21 yd
  • Worsted-weight yarn in Orange-Red (CC) — about 18 yd
  • Crochet hook H-8 (5 mm), plus a yarn needle
  • Finished tile: about 5.3 × 8.4 in (in worsted; thinner yarn makes a smaller tile)

Written rows

42 rows off a 22-chain foundation — two per charted row: each band works a right-side and a wrong-side row in one yarn, and the marked cells are double crochets dropped in front of the band below to form the picture.

The {count} tiles

Every tile is 21×21 cells in two yarns, worked flat the same way — so any of them combine into garlands, potholders, cushion fronts, or a tiled blanket. Each card opens the full pattern; the maker link underneath opens that tile ready to edit.

One set, one blanket

The tiles share one size, one technique, and one two-color logic, so they join like patch blocks: in worsted each finishes about 5.3 × 8.4 in, and six of them seamed 2×3 make a table runner or a doll blanket. For a full-size throw, repeat your favorites — or load a tile in the maker and extend its grid.

New to this colorwork? The mosaic crochet guide explains how a dropped double crochet forms the picture, and the difference between the inset and overlay methods.

Halloween crochet FAQ

What free Halloween crochet patterns are here?

6 original Halloween tiles — pumpkin, ghost, bat, witch hat, black cat, and spider — each with a complete chart, every row written out, materials, and finished size, plus the library's other Halloween designs. All free to view and print, no signup.

What size is a Halloween tile?

Each tile is a 21×21 grid; in worsted-weight yarn on a H-8 (5 mm) hook it finishes about 5.3 × 8.4 inches. Thinner yarn on a smaller hook makes a smaller, denser tile.

Are these patterns beginner-friendly?

Yes. Mosaic colorwork uses only chains, single crochet, and double crochet, and you hold one yarn at a time, changing color every other row — no bobbins, no stranding, no carrying yarn across the back.

Can I make a Halloween blanket from these tiles?

Yes. The tiles share one size and one technique, so they seam cleanly into garlands, potholders, cushion fronts, or a tiled blanket — or open one tile in the maker and repeat its motif across a larger grid.

How do I change a tile's colors or design?

Open the tile in the mosaic maker — every card on this page loads its tile ready to edit. Pick new main and contrast colors or repaint cells, and the chart, the written rows, and the yarn estimate update as you work; the editor flags any cell the technique can't produce.
